The Imperial Gozo Yacht Club was formed on August 1st 2006. Its purpose is to provide an organization based in Gozo for persons with interest in the sports of yachting, both sailing and power, and within sailing both cruising and racing.

The Club has grown rapidly, and is active in organizing both on the water sailing activities and also educational and social events for its members.

      

 

      

 


Robin's Round Robin Race Results
In a moderate to strong NW breeze, Sunday June 21 turned our to be an excellent race for the participants. The final results were: 1) Rusty Nail, 2) Mary OV Geeste, 3) Illusion I, 4) Third Time Lucky

Group Cruise To Pozzallo
IGYC is organizing a group cruise to Pozzallo, over the long weekend of 26th June to 29th June.

Sailing yachts are to depart Mgarr at 0400 on the 26th. Powerboats are to target arriving at Pozzallo at 1200.

Club Rally - Trip around Gozo
Next Sunday, 14th June is the scheduled club boat rally which weather permitting is planned to be a trip around Gozo.

Both powerboats and sailboats are invited, though powerboats can leave at their own schedule since they can arrive faster.

Gleneagles Race Results
In a fresh breeze, the yacht race for the Gleneagles Cup took place on Sunday May 31st. The course, while using natural marks for turns was almost triangular and included two upwind legs and downwind and beam reach, in the South Easterly wind.

Congratulations to Robin Askwith and his crew on Rusty Nail who finished in a time of 2 hrs 27min 17 sec, rating corrected to 2 hr 28 min and 28 sec
Second came the yacht Frank Farrugia on the yacht First Class and third Mr. Harman on Mary OV Geese.

Gleneagles Cup - May 31st
The first yacht race of the season is coming up.

Those who have not raced before in an IGYC race, please make sure you send the required information by Friday May 29th, namely: yacht name, make and model, LWL, name of skipper, and contact information.

All others, show up at the briefing!!
