Villa
Xini
The Villa Xini is a delightful first class villa built in a traditional
Gozitan style in the tranquil village of Xewkija, a 10-minute walk from
the pebbly beach of Mgarr ix-Xini and the dramatic cliffs of Ta' Cenc.
You enter from a narrow alley into the Villa Xini's private courtyard.
The villa itself has a spacious open-plan lounge/diner, beautifully
furnished with a rattan sofa and chairs, and a superb oak kitchen with
verde granite worktops. The huge verandah, which opens off the dining
area, has a great view over the swimming pool (10 x 5.5m) and beyond
to the surrounding fields with their almond, carob and fig trees, fennel
and prickly pears. There is a 21" stereo-sound colour TV, Pay Phone,
optional washing machine, and a fire-place. A built-in barbeque is near
the private swimming pool.

There
are two bedrooms on the ground floor, one has a double bed and an en
suite shower room, the other has three single beds. There is also a
separate bathroom. A traditional stone staircase leads from the living
room up to an airy landing with a double bed and opens onto the large
roof terrace. It can sleep 7 persons comfortably.
A short walk from Villa Xini leads down the valley of Mgarr ix-Xini,
which finally opens out to an inlet. The valley itself looks as if has
been cut into the land by an invisible hand. At various places over-looking
the valley, trough-like depressions are carved in solid ground, rectangular
and square. A report in 1946 described them as "troughs of unknown antiquity".
Availability and prices on request. Maid service once weekly. Early
booking is essential.
Bicycle/car hire is recommended. Transfer to and from your accommodation
(including the ferry/helicopter) can be arranged, regardless of your
arrival time. You will be greeted at the airport and transferred straight
to Villa Xini.
